Your Writing Coach
I have been a writer and editor for more than 25 years, and hold degrees in English (Vassar College, B.A.) and communications (M.A. and Ph.D., University of Georgia) with a specialty in environmental writing. I have taught nonfiction writing in several colleges, including feature writing, news writing, business writing, investigative writing, expository writing, and more. In addition to college teaching, I have worked as a magazine editor, and as a director of publication relations and marketing, and am always working on freelance writing and editing projects. Currently, I am the communications director for an internationally known environmental organization.
In my jobs and also as a freelancer, I have written numerous magazine, journal and newspaper articles, many newsletters, several books and booklets, and website content. I've also worked closely with a number of book publishers in various capacities, ranging from editing to marketing.
In addition to my work in communications, I also work part time as a wildlife rehabilitation technician in several facilities. I am also studying veterinary technology, have worked in several humane shelters, and help run a large neighborhood nature preserve.
